Travel photo for flights to Morocco

Morocco offers imperial cities, the Atlas Mountains and a long Atlantic and Mediterranean coast, and it is a popular trip for the diaspora and visitors alike. Choosing the right airport and season helps.

Morocco at a glance

  • Main gateways: Casablanca Mohammed V (CMN), Marrakech Menara (RAK) and Tangier Ibn Battouta (TNG). Fès, Rabat and Agadir also have flights.
  • Busiest fare periods: July and August, Easter, and the December holidays.
  • Often better-value periods: late autumn and winter outside the holidays.
  • Climate: mild and pleasant in spring and autumn, very hot inland in summer.

When to fly

Spring and autumn are comfortable for city touring and for hiking in the mountains. July and August are busy as Moroccans return home for the summer, and inland cities such as Marrakech are very hot. Ramadan and the Eid holidays move each year, and prices rise around them.

Routings and baggage

Royal Air Maroc has flown non-stop from several US cities to Casablanca and connects onward to Marrakech and other cities. Other routes connect through Europe or Istanbul. Check baggage allowances on the exact fare, because they vary, and check onward domestic tickets separately.

Airports and getting around

From Casablanca’s airport, trains link to the city, and a high-speed train, the Al Boraq, runs between Casablanca and Tangier. Marrakech is easy to reach by taxi, and in the old medina you will usually walk. Agree a taxi price or use the meter before you set off.

How to pay less on flights to Morocco

  • Skip July and August. They are the busiest for families and the diaspora, and the interior is very hot. Late autumn and winter outside the holidays are often cheaper, and spring and autumn are comfortable.
  • Compare the airports. Casablanca is the main hub, Marrakech is the most popular for visitors, and Tangier serves the north. Fares into each can differ, and a one-way into one and out of another may be cheaper.
  • Compare the routes. Royal Air Maroc has flown non-stop from several US cities to Casablanca, and many travelers connect through Europe or Istanbul.

Before you go

Check passport validity and Morocco’s current entry rules for your nationality through the official government portal. A yellow fever certificate is needed only if you arrive from a risk country. Hepatitis A and typhoid vaccines are commonly recommended, and rabies is worth discussing if you will be near animals. See the CDC page for Morocco. Health notes reflect the CDC’s Travelers’ Health pages as last checked in October 2026, and notices change quickly.
