Car Rental for Your Trip

A rental car can make a trip easier, or it can add cost and stress if you book it without checking the details. Where you pick it up, who can drive, what the insurance covers and how you pay the deposit matter more than the headline daily rate. Ask for a car in your TravelSource quote and a specialist checks those details for your destination.

How car rental with your flight works

  1. Add a car to your search. Tick “Car” and tell us the pick-up and drop-off days, the number of drivers and how many people and bags need to fit.
  2. Get a combined quote. We reply with flights and car options together, with the main conditions listed in plain words.
  3. Decide. Take the car, or take only the flights. The car is optional.

Before you rent a car abroad

  • Driving licence. Some countries ask for an international driving permit as well as your own licence. Check the rules for your destination before you travel.
  • Driver age and extra drivers. Young-driver fees and fees for an additional driver vary by company.
  • Fuel and mileage. Check whether the car is rented with a full tank and whether mileage is limited.
  • Deposit. Rental companies usually hold a deposit on a credit card. Make sure the card name matches the driver.
  • Do you need a car at all? In some cities an airport transfer and local taxis cost less than a rental. Tell us your plan and we will say so.

Cars for groups and longer trips

Traveling with a team, a family or for an extended stay? Tell us the number of people and the route, and we can quote the right size of vehicle with your group flights.

Ready to plan? Start a search with a car added, or see hotels and stays and travel insurance for the rest of the trip.

Questions, answered.

Can I add a rental car to my flight booking?

Yes. Tick “Car” when you start your search and give us the days, drivers and passengers. A specialist includes the car in the same quote, and the car is always optional.

Do I need an international driving permit?

Some countries require one in addition to your own licence. The rule depends on the destination, so check it before you travel. Tell us where you are going and we will flag it.

What do I need to pick up a rental car?

Usually a valid driving licence, a passport and a credit card in the driver’s name for the deposit. The rental company sets its own requirements, and your quote lists them.

Is it cheaper to rent a car or use transfers and taxis?

It depends on the destination and the length of stay. For short stays in a city, transfers and taxis can cost less. Tell us your plans and we will compare.

Can I add a second driver?

Often yes, sometimes for an extra fee. Tell us how many people will drive and the quote will show the cost.

Can you arrange cars for groups?

Yes. Tell us how many people and bags, and we will quote suitable vehicles with your group flights.
